Premier League: Contract expires soon, Chelsea peek at the opportunity to recruit Napoli’s fertile star

The lack of clarity about Lorenzo Insigne’s future at Napoli will allegedly make Chelsea move to negotiate. If you don’t sign a new contract, the tiny Italian player can be obtained for free at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

Chelsea see Insigne as the right person to add power to the left side of their attack. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech who have been relied on in this post are considered unconvincing.

In 2020/2021 Insigne recorded his most fertile season in the Italian League with 19 goals and seven assists from 35 appearances. Only Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic, who incidentally is a center forward, can exceed his achievements.

No wonder Chelsea are interested in the 30-year-old Napoli captain. However, they are not the only fans because Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur are also ready to approach. Inter Milan have even been serious since last summer.

Insigne himself is still not too open about where he will play next season. The Italian national team player at Euro 2020 only wants to focus on bringing Napoli to reach the target in 2021/2022.

“I’m just thinking about what happens on the pitch. There’s my agent who takes care of other things,” Insigne told Sky Sports Italia.

“The interests of the team are always the priority. Not the right time to talk about contracts at this time because the club and agents know better. I still have a year at Napoli ,” he added.

Naples Golden Boy

Apart from being on loan at Cavese, Foggia, and Pescara, Insigne has never strengthened a team other than Napoli. He is the original product of the Il Partenope i academy which has been educating him since 2007.

No wonder his status is now the public’s favorite player at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, previously named San Paolo. Especially because there are 111 goals and 88 assists he made from 405 appearances in all competitions. Insigne’s name is also included in the top five performers and top scorers in the history of Napoli.

However, the togetherness of Insigne and Napoli could end because the player wants to have more trophies. So far, he has only won three titles, namely two Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.
